FAQ

Answers to some of the most common questions:

What days and times are games and practices?
Practices will start the week of Feb 14 2022 , weather permitting, until opening ceremonies on march 19th. 
For 6U, 8U, and 10U, there will be one scheduled weekday practice and one weekend practice.  Weekday practices are typically held between 5pm and 7pm.
For 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18U, there will be one scheduled weekday practice and one weekend practice. Weekday practices are typically between 7pm and 9pm.
(Coaches pick practice times so they can provide the most practice according to their schedule.)
During the season, games are held on weekday evenings and weekends. Wednesdays and Sundays are reserved for make up games.

What does the registration fee go towards?
Registration fees cover league insurance, field use fees, Jerseys and Socks. All staff volunteer their time to make the season the best it can be.

What equipment do the players need to provide? 
Players need to provide a glove and decent foot wear for running, and a fielders face mask. 
Optional items are: helmets, bats, rubber molded cleats. Bats and helmets need to meet league guidelines. Contact your coach for specifications.
(The League provides helmets, bats, catchers gear that the team can share.)

Do you have an everyone plays policy?
It is the Leagues goal to provide a safe, fun learning environment for all of our athletes. This includes playing time for all of our girls. In the 6U age group, all players bat every inning. All 8U and 10U players are included in the batting order. 12U and up, our managers do their best to provide equal playing time.

Who runs New Bern Babe Ruth Girls Softball(NBBRGS)?
NBBRGS is managed by the board of directors Click Here for List. Elections are held yearly in the fall. Positions are available. Contact League President for more information.

Are there opportunities to volunteer?
All Board Members, Managers, Coaches, Concession workers are volunteers. NBBRGS is always looking for volunteers. For the safety of our players, all coaches are required to fill out and pass a background check every three years. Sign up to Volunteer
